PSLE SCORING SYSTEM
In PSLE, each subject you take is graded using an Achievement Level (AL), from AL1 (Best) to AL8. Think of it as a way to show how well you’ve mastered each subject. Each level corresponds to a range of marks:
- AL1: 90–100
- AL2: 85–89
- AL3: 80–84
- AL4: 75–79
- AL5: 65–74
- AL6: 45–64
- AL7: 20–44
- AL8: Below 20
To get your overall PSLE score, all four ALs are added together. The lowest total is the best, starting at 4, while the highest is 32. So, the aim is simple: Aim for lower AL score but aim for higher marks!
How to Help Your Kids Study Effectively for PSLE
1. Keep Their Energy Up with the Right Food
Provide balanced and nutritious meals that give your child sustained energy and help them stay alert while studying. Foods such as fruits, whole grains, eggs, nuts, and vegetables are good sources of energy for focus and concentration. Maintaining a healthy diet also strengthens their immunity, helping them avoid falling sick as the exams draw closer.
2. Be a Source of Support, Not Pressure
We all know PSLE is important (including your children). What children need most is reassurance that you are supporting them through the journey, not adding extra stress.
3. Prevent Burnout with Rest and Balance
Burnout can happen during the final stretch before PSLE. It is important to ensure children are not overstuding to the point where they feel exhausted or discouraged. Giving them proper rest and downtime helps them stay motivated and continue studying with a clearer and more focused mind.
4. Create a Comfortable Study Space at Home
A quiet and organised study environment at home can help your child focus better and feel less stressed while studying. At Leading Learning Centre, we also allow our existing students to come down and study at the centre during the PSLE period if they prefer a more focused environment
